Housing Design Awards 2005 |
|
The development at Evelyn Road won the Housing Design Award in 2005 and The Civic Trust Award in 2006.
Civic Trust Awards celebrate the best quality development across the UK.
Evelyn Road won an award for 'providing an exhilarating, positive example of well designed low cost housing.' The 12 units each have 2 bedrooms and a simple layout providing a large and flexible living space with unusually high ceilings.
The timber frame building has an iridescent street front, developed in collaboration with the light artist Martin Richman. The Civic Trust considered it 'an imaginative and landmark building' and 'important, not just in terms of the progression of good design in affordable housing, but the part it plays in local regeneration.'
