Chain of Custody certification provides a guarantee about the production of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified products. Chain of Custody is the path taken by raw materials from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution.

From a customer perspective, the FSC label represents a promise that is being made to them. Chain of Custody standards are the mechanism FSC has to ensure that promise is delivered.

Sandwood is one of only two UK contractors to achieve FSC COC standards.

The company undertook the first ever new build project to qualify as an FSC mixed sources product, achieving over 90% FSC certification under Sandwood's COC procedures. Windows, stairs and kitchens were the only elements non FSC certified.

We are hoping to make one of our current developments 100% FSC and will again adhere to the Product Certification criteria. The only problem to date in achieving that has been the windows, where the company concerned has still to implement Chain of Custody procedures.
